Braxtyn's Bounty for Bones, Inc. was developed in memory of Braxtyn, a lovable and
unforgettable Golden Retriever who had an unfortunate and painful encounter with bone cancer, and was taken too soon from his friends and family in 2010 at the young age of 7.5 years.
Why did we do this?
Putt from the Ruff was created by Braxtyn's family to raise awareness and money for the National Canine Cancer Foundation as well as local animal not-for-profits. One out of three dogs will get cancer. Our goal is to not only make this statistic a thing of the past, but information gathered researching canine cancer can aid in humans battle with cancer, as well. We also have a list of items that anyone (participating or not) can donate to be given to the local charities to aid in their quest of making animals' lives better. Who do we support?
The money made from Putt from the Ruff goes to support the National Canine Cancer Foundation (wearethecure.org
), as well as two Indianapolis area animal charities: FIDO (Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside fidoindy.org
), and Paws & Think (pawsandthink.org
FIDO needs list:
- Medium dog harnesses
- Large dog harnesses
- Advantage flea meds for dogs 55-88 lbs
- Advantage flea meds for cats
- Dry cat food (We are chronically low on cat food at the FIDO Pet Food Pantry!)
- 3 to 5 gallon buckets
- Empty plastic prescription pill bottles
- Duct tape (We use it on everything!)
- Zip ties
What is Putt from the Ruff?
Bar owners and their staff can have as much fun with this event as their imagination will allow. All we ask from them is to come up with a putting green on which participants will attempt to putt. It can be as simple or outlandish as those building it wish. It can have ridiculous obstacles (i.e. kegs, doghouses, water, etc.) or it can be a straight shot. We are giving complete freedom to each bar; we want to have fun for a good cause.
Oh Wait! The only stipulation: The hole MUST be big enough for a golf ball to fit into it, and it must be possible to get the ball in the hole!
EVENT DATE: Putt from the Ruff will take place on September 17th, 2016. Registration will begin at 10:30am at the Broad Ripple Tavern. The putting will commence at noon! Four-person teams are required, though you can add a 5th or 6th player (Only the top 4 scores will be taken.)
ENTREE FEE: Until the end of the day on September 1st, entry for a four-person team is $120. A fifth and sixth player are an additional $30/each. After September 1st, the cost increases to $140 for a four-person team with fifth and sixth players being $35 each.
DETAILS: Regardless of sign-up date, each participant will receive a Putt from the Ruff T-shirt. At registration, teams will be required to include their t-shirt sizes. Once registration is complete, participants can be added/switched as long as all participants are 21 years of age. A waiver signature will be required at registration, so please arrive early to complete the necessary paperwork in order to be eligible to play.
